Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?
No referral is necessary to book an appointment, but if you have one, please include it in your booking request.

  2. Are your services covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your specific benefits plan; some employers offer coverage for dietitian services while others do not. I would recommend checking your benefits plan. Please note that I do not bill directly to your insurance company. You will need to pay for the services upfront and then submit a claim for reimbursement with your insurance company.

  3. What is the difference between a nutritionist, a dietitian, and a sports dietitian?
A dietitian is a licensed professional who has completed a degree in nutrition and dietetics, along with +1,500 hrs of supervised practice, and is credentialed to provide medical nutrition therapy. A nutritionist may not have formal training or certification (except in Québec, Alberta and Nova Scotia). A sports dietitian specializes in applying nutrition principles specifically to enhance athletic performance, focusing on the unique needs of athletes in various sports.

  4. How do I know if I qualify for your services as an athlete?
Any active individual committed to their sport qualifies as an athlete, whether you're preparing for international competitions, playing in a recreational league, or have just started running. If you are dedicated to being physically active, I’m here to help!

  5. What sports do you specialize in?
I primarily focus on endurance sports, especially running. I also provide tactical nutrition support for firefighters and have experience with hockey, soccer, volleyball, skiing (cross-country, backcountry, downhill), paddling (think Yukon River Quest) and powerlifting to name a few!

  6. Do you offer services to youth athletes (under 19 years old)?
Yes, I work with youth athletes! However, parental / guardian consent is required prior to pursuing services, and I encourage their involvement in the nutrition plan, especially for those who may not be independent with meal preparation and grocery shopping.

  7. Do you offer in-person consultations?
No, I do not offer in-person consultations at the moment. All sessions are conducted online, allowing you to connect from the comfort of your home! This format is particularly helpful when clients want to show me specific products or supplements they use or what they have on hand in their pantry or fridge.
